Notebook Choices

I can’t wait to start 2021. This is my usual feeling towards the end of the year. This year, the urge to start afresh is particularly strong. I know that it’s unrealistic to think that things will be completely different in the new year. However, I feel like I will be better prepared.

I will need notebooks in a few different sizes. I will mention a few different journals and notebooks that I have at the moment.

At the moment, I will need at least three independent bullet journals. They are work, personal and a catch all journal. I plan to have a notebook that is solely for my language learning.

Currently, I do have a notebook for practicing a language that I am learning. I have been using slimline notebooks. In the future, I want to use a thicker notebook. This way I can have a larger reference section available to me than I do at the moment.

I also will have a notebook that is solely for my writing. A place where I can brainstorm and write as I please. I’m more comfortable writing out my thoughts and ideas on paper than typing directly into a computer. I find white space on a computer more intimidating than in a notebook.

For my personal and work bullet journals, I prefer an A5 sized notebook. This is my preferred notebook size, due to my tendency to write in a long hand format. All of my choices for my A5 have fountain pen friendly paper to varying degrees. This is my top criteria for my notebooks.

My notebook for language learning will be a 3 X 5 size. This size is not too large. Portability is the most important feature for this notebook. I want the notebook to have a large amount of pages. Currently, I am using a thinner notebook in this same size. I have solved the reference material problem by carrying multiple books in the past. This information will be accessed easier if it is housed in a larger notebook in the future.

The catch all journal will also be a 3 X 5 notebook. This is the notebook that always leaves the house with me. For the foreseeable future, I won’t be taking my planner with me when I leave the house. It’s not convenient with my work, so whatever I use will not come back into the main living areas of the house. It will be a true outdoor planner.

These are a few of my considerations and choices that I have available.
