The Month’s View

A month view of the calendar allows me to plan an overview of my life. This overview consists of several weeks at a time. You can utilize this larger view compared to the weekly and daily views for organizing your life several weeks ahead of time.

This view is the best opportunity to pull in elements from both your yearly and quarterly goals. After populating the month view with  appointments and other scheduled items, schedule in some of your goals. This forethought in relation to your goals can really make a difference when it comes to achieving those goals.

The month view provides an element of structure to your planning as well. This structure shouldn’t be thought of as rigid or unbreakable. We all know that some things come up that are unplanned and unforeseen, but they need to be prioritized. Having a good fundamental structure means that these last minute emergencies will not completely throw our schedules into disarray. Obviously, this is determined by the nature of the emergency, but for nearly every situation with a good foundation, you can juggle around priorities without giving up completing your goals for the month.

The month view can be used to set one big goal for each week. This view allows us to readily see how the flow of these smaller goals are leading us on a path to complete our overall goals. Consistent use of the monthly view encourages us to think about our goals over the long term. We will know how our goals will look at every stage towards completion.
